The Finncon 2023 convention site is at the City centre campus of Tampere University. The address of the convention site is Kalevantie 4. The location is close to both the railway station and the bus station. There are several shops and restaurants near the convention site, and for example the Tullintori mall, which has a pharmacy, a grocery store and several restaurants.

Public transport in Tampere

The closest local public transport stops are called Yliopisto A, Yliopisto C and Yliopisto D. The buses 2, 7, 9, 19 and 40 stop at these stops. When using the tram, the nearest stop is called Tulli. Both trams, 1 and 3, stop on the Tulli tram stop. The tram stop is about 500 metres from the convention site.

For accessibility purposes it is good to notice that all trams are step free and as the tram is only a couple of years old, there is a lot of space for wheelchairs. However, the way from Tulli tram stop to the convention site is a slight upward slope.

Arriving to Tampere

Tampere is located in Western Finland. Getting to There are various ways to get to Tampere from abroad. There are flights to Tampere-Pirkkala airport from a couple of cities within the Nordic countries. There are buses running between Tampere-Pirkkala airport and the city centre. Helsinki airport has more flight connections from around the world. There is a train connection from the Helsinki airport to Tampere, through Tikkurila station.

When arriving from Helsinki by train, the railway station is less than 500 metres from the convention site. There is also a bus connection from Helsinki to Tampere, and the bus station is also 500 metres from the convention site.

Arriving by car and parking

Arriving by car to the convention site is from Ratapihankatu 55. There is a parking lot with paid parking. It is possible to drive a car to the Kalevantie main entrance, for example when using a taxi, dropping someone off or picking them from the convention site. Both entrances are step-free.

All parking within the Tampere University campus area requires payment or a special permit.
There is a private parking control patrolling the area, also on weekends.

The area surrounding the convention site, especially the Tulli area, are part of parking zone 2. This means that parking on the streets costs during the weekdays and Saturdays. There is a 24h parking area next to the Tullintori mall, called Tullintorin kansi. In addition, there are three parking structures around Tullintori: P-Tullintori (below the mall), P-Tampere-talo, and P-Hämppi, all of which have a lot of parking space. However, the prices can be rather steep. On the Eastern side of the convention site, on Sailraalankatu, there is a paid parking area.

It is good to notice that the area around Nokia Arena, located right next to the convention site, can be closed from both private and public transport during large events, to ensure the safety of people attending these events. There will be diversions and alternative routes available.
